American car company Chrysler is to begin importing classic American trucks into the UK.

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab and its counterpart 5.7 litre 4&4 Laramie 1500 Quad Cab are to go on sale at Chrysler dealers. The latter will be priced from £25,995, whilst the former will go on sale at £37,995.

The company claims that the SRT-10 is the most powerful pick-up ever built. It is powered by a 8.3 litre V10 engine which produces 500 brake horsepower. The Laramie has can tow over 7000 lbs, and comes with heated leather seating.

Simon Elliot, managing director of Chrysler Group UK, said: "There is a big market for classic American trucks in the UK, but up until now, a grey-import has been the only way to get your hands on one."

"As we get our vehicles direct from the factory our dealers will also undercut the current importers - the Dodge Ram SRT-10 will be around £4000 less than our competitors," he added.

The pick-up trucks will be available from October in all Chrysler dealers.
