'Help is at hand with a travel guide'
People heading for a caravan holiday this year could find that they benefit from picking up a travel guide, according to a travel expert.
The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) stated that guide books can help backpackers - but it may also be useful for travellers looking to escape to locations around the world in a motor home.
Hints and tips given out by the literature could even help people decide which locations are best suited to preserving a caravan insurance policy.
But some people may be put off by the recent revelation that travel writer Thomas Kohnstamm wrote a guide to Columbia while living in San Francisco.
Speaking on behalf of Abta, Sean Tipton remarked that keeping a travel guide up-to-date can often be "impossible".
"Things can change, places can close down, and maybe as soon as something is printed somewhere changes and is not as good in terms of service or price," said the expert.
Meanwhile, Leven & Brandesburton Today has reported that East Riding Council has approved plans to install a shower and toilet block at Starcarr Lane caravan site.
