Caravan park suffers third flood in a year

The need for caravan insurance was highlighted in Devon recently following the third flood in a year at the Lady's Mile Holiday Park in Dawlish.

No caravans or tents were flooded during the incident, but if it had occurred in high season the situation could have been different, park owner Jason Jeffery told the Express and Echo.

He said it was lucky that the 600 visitors were not affected, but that peak season sees more than 3,500 people stay in caravans or tents in the 40-acre park.

Mr Jeffery blamed inadequate drains surrounding the site, meaning that heavy rains could cause significant problems for the holiday park and its visitors.

"We've got to the point where we dread the rain," he added, explaining that everything is being done to ensure the park is ready to receive half-term visitors from the end of the week.

Caravan insurance customers are told that Lady's Mile Holiday Park offers a range of activities to cater for every need, as well as particularly beautiful surroundings.

According to its website, caravan insurance customers who stay at the holiday park are close to "a superb stretch of Blue Flag sandy beach" as well as to a major bird sanctuary.
