Holiday drivers 'should research road works'

Caravan insurance customers may be particularly interested in finding out more about planned road works for the upcoming bank holiday weekend before they set off on their travels, it has been suggested.

According to the Highways Agency, around half of all major road works projects taking place on motorways and major A roads in England are set to be completed or suspended during the holiday weekend.

However, road works will still be carried out at some 44 locations across the country over the bank holiday weekend, which means caravanners may wish to plan their journey in advance.

"The roads will be busy, so I urge drivers to plan their journeys using travel information available on websites and radio bulletins, and allow extra time to complete their journey safely," said roads minister Tom Harris.

In addition, caravan drivers have been encouraged to conduct a basic safety check before they hit the road.

Last week, MoneyHighStreet.com reported that as more people turn to holidaying in the UK rather than taking trips abroad, caravan insurance is a necessity to ensure caravans are protected in case of damage, theft or flooding.
