New holiday publication released by Highways Agency

Caravan insurance customers planning a trip to Dorset, Devon or Cornwall this summer may be interested in a new publication released by the Highways Agency and South West Tourism, it has been suggested.

The new Summer Getaway 2008 leaflet is designed to help UK travellers avoid congestion at peak times of the day by outlining the main routes and traffic hotspots in the region.

And as eight million people are expected to visit the region in the summer months, the information listed in the pamphlet could be of additional interest to caravan holidaymakers planning a coastline vacation this year.

"The south-west has so much to do and see from the dramatic coastline, beautiful countryside, history and heritage - and a vast amount of entertainment - so visitors coming down during the summer months want to get to their destination as soon as possible and start enjoying their break," said Malcolm Bell, chief executive of South West Tourism.

Previous reports from the group indicate that in 2006, a total of 43 fatalities and 1,400 injuries on England's roads were the result of incidents involving towing trainers or caravans.
