Around one-third of Brits 'planning caravan holiday'
A third of Brits are considering going on a caravan holiday and travelling to their destination by car, according to the latest survey by American Express.
More and more people are choosing to take their car when they go on holiday with one in ten Brits considering driving into Europe while 27 per cent are thinking about going camping and getting there by car.
The reasons for people increasingly opting for driving holidays include adopting a more eco-friendly approach to travel and avoiding the long queues and the stress of lost baggage at airports.
Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services, said: "Long working days mean that [Britons] don't want to waste more time than is necessary with long check-in times. Consequently the trend appears to be taking a return to family drive holidays."
Meanwhile, research has shown that Londoners are the most likely to holiday in the UK, with 45 per cent of them taking a break in Britain more than twice a year.
According to figures from Confused.com, Scottish people are the least likely to holiday in the UK with 24 per cent of those in Aberdeen saying they never take a break in Britain.
