Glastonbury increases number of caravan sites
Glastonbury organisers have been forced to re-think campsite arrangements as more and more festival-goers swap camping tickets for caravan permits.
The Somerset concerts kick off at the end of June but flooding in the area last week and forecasts of further wet weather have seen droves of ticket-holders making alternative accommodation arrangements.
Festival organisers say caravan and motorhome pitches have soared in popularity in a bid to beat the storm clouds.
Lockable caravans are also seen as a safer way to enjoy the festival as tent thefts continue to be a problem.
Rita Sadler, head of Safeguard, said: "The benefits of caravanning over camping at festivals are all too apparent when the bad weather hits, and having the facility to have a cup of tea and somewhere dry to sit when it's wet is always a bonus!"
Glastonbury organisers have made separate fields to park campervans and caravans available adjacent to the festival site and within 200 yards from the fence.
