New plans for caravan park

Purchasers of caravan insurance may be interested to know that work is now ready to begin on a new caravan park at Winscales after the local council looks set to approve the plans.

Originally entrepreneur George Campbell had received permission to build a 100-room hotel on his land, but has recently changed his mind, the Times and Star reports.

Instead, Mr Campbell decided that a 100-site static caravan park was the better option and it looks like he is set to gain council approval for his plans.

However, the project will be subject to certain conditions. The caravans on the site would have to be static and will only be used for holiday letting, the newspaper said.

Conditions are likely to stipulate that the caravans cannot be used as either first or second homes and that the access road to the site must be widened.

Elsewhere in the country, Park Holidays UK has secured a deal with Waveney district council to build a new £5 million caravan park, the Evening Star reports.

The park will have space for a total of 150 static caravans, 70 pitches and a camping area on the seafront at Lowestoft.
