Festival caravan owners charging phones with wind power
People planning to attend this year's Glastonbury festival will be pleased to hear that they will not have to worry about their mobile phones running out of battery.
This is because festival organisers have given Orange permission to erect a mobile phone charger at the site.
The "pod" has been developed with Gotwind and will be powered by renewable energy sources. It will be seven metres high and capable of charging 100 phones an hour.
Campers and caravanners at the long-established music event will be able to leave their phones charging in a locker, to which only they will have the key, and will not be charged a penny for the service.
"Glastonbury Festival prides itself on being the first festival to host alternative solutions to environmental concerns - the Orange recharge Pod is a great initiative that supports Love The Farm, Leave No Trace and encourages people to open their eyes to the many practical uses of renewable energy," commented a spokesperson for the festival.
Caravan sites at Glastonbury Festival are not provided with electricity, so those caravan insurance customers who want to be able to rely on their mobiles will be sure to benefit from Orange's service.
