Swansea residents 'can trade caravans with swap shop'

A new swap shop has been set up in order to help residents in Swansea beat the credit crunch, according to a local news source.

News Wales has stated that caravans are among the items being offered as part of the scheme on the council's website, along with domestic appliances such as kitchen equipment and televisions.

It could be that people who pick up a second-hand motor home find that they save money on their caravan insurance policies, as cover firms may view the vehicles as less of a risk and reduce costs as a result.

And Swansea council is "delighted with the success of the website", commented Trish Flint, recycling officer for the body, the news source added.

"It's giving people the opportunity to pass on their unwanted items to others instead of them ending up in landfill. It also gives users the opportunity of obtaining items they want without handing over any cash," said the official.

The Telegraph earlier this month stated that swap shops and websites such as eBay are becoming more popular in the advent of the credit crunch, with people looking to cut costs at every opportunity.
