Caravan dwellers given cigarette warning after fire
Smokers spending time in caravans need to remember to put out their cigarettes properly if they are to light up inside the vehicles, it has been claimed.
The Daily Post has reported that a blaze erupted at Aberkinsey Farm Caravan Park in Rhyl after a man fell asleep having not completely put out his cigarette.
According to the news source, firefighters arrived at the scene at 04:30 BST and tackled the blaze.
However, it may be that caravan insurance companies charge more to smokers living in motor homes, as they could view them as a potential risk.
"Our advice is to use a proper, heavy ashtray that can't tip over easily and made of a material that won't burn and make sure your cigarette is not still burning when you are finished - put it out, right out," commented Alan Roberts, speaking on behalf of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
This comes after a caravan fire near Honiton left a man with burns to his arms this week, the Express & Echo has reported.
According to the news source, the man was treated at hospital.
