Theft warning for caravan owners

Officials in Peterborough have told caravan owners in the area to make sure they keep their vehicles secure over the summer, according to a local news source.

Peterborough Today has stated that this comes after two vehicles were stolen over the last month.

It could be that people who own caravans in the region find that such a problem has a serious effect on their caravan insurance policy.

This is because officials in the area could see the incidents as representative of either a negligent vehicle owner or a dangerous area and increase costs as a result.

According to Trevor Bracken, crime reduction manager for Fenland, "improved anti-theft devices need to be fitted to campervans".

"In addition to devices such as steering locks or wheel clamps, owners should consider marking their vehicle and contents with Smartwater and investigate the cost of tracking equipment that might also reduce their insurance premium," he remarked.

This comes after a warning was issued by fire officials in north Wales to motor home owners who smoke to make sure they put out their cigarettes properly in order to avoid fires, the Daily Post stated.
