eBay caravan sales 'highest in Northampton'
The number of people going to online auction site eBay to pick up a caravan is greater in Northampton than anywhere else in Britain, according to new figures.
Statistics released by the website show that some £350,000 is spent by people in the area on motor homes each year - with around 1,100 models picked up, according to the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.
In addition, the statistics show that there was £30,000 splashed out on 400 conservatories during the timeframe as well as £350 on fitness equipment by those looking to stay in shape.
But those looking for vehicles should be sure that the models are in good condition, otherwise any savings made could be offset by any extra caravan insurance they would have to pay.
"The town can be credited with pioneering eco-friendly holidays, being Britain's number one spender on caravans," remarked Julia Hutton-Potts, spokesperson for eBay.
This comes as Whitby Today has stated that plans for two more static holiday caravans in Mickleby have been turned down by officials on the planning committee for the North York Moors National Park.
