Green light given for caravan site extension
A plan to make a caravan site in South Yorkshire bigger by adding extra vehicles has been given the go-ahead - but only on a trial basis, a local news source has reported.
The Star has stated that Doncaster Council has agreed to allow ten to 20 new caravans settle at the site, but only for a period of five years.
It could be that the extra vehicles prove to be a problem for people with caravan insurance. This is because cover firms could judge the area to be more of a risk for motor home owners due to an increased chance of damage.
Askern Spa Ward Ros Jones wanted the scheme to be turned down, believing that it would only serve to connect Sutton and Askern.
Planning committee member councillor Eric Tatton-Kelly is also against it, saying: "I think it is hugely damaging to the village and hugely damaging to that section of the green belt."
This comes after police have been urged to remove caravans which have set up base in Clackheaton car park, the Spenborough Guardian reported.
