Drop in leisure sales over last nine months

There has been a drop in the number of leisure vehicles sold in the UK over the course of 2008, according to an industry dealer.

Hemscott has reported that Trigano has published figures showing an 11.2 per cent drop from the third-quarter of last year to May 2008.

The news source added that revenue has fallen to €248.7 million over the period, while sales have dropped 1.4 per cent to €718.8 million from €729.1 million per year.

It may be that fewer people pick up caravan insurance policies as a result, as a drop in the amount of vehicles sold could see a decline in the number of policies picked up.

But Trigano remarked that its business is driven by trends and as such it will look to cater to them.

The company commented: "[Business] should thus logically not be durably impacted by the sluggishness of consumption in Europe."

Trigano is a developer of caravan and camping equipment, with visitors able to download its 2008 trailer tents caravan from its official website.
