Ingoldmells caravans targeted by thieves

Police in Ingoldmells are reminding caravan owners to stay safe after two vehicles in the area were targeted by thieves over the weekend, it has been reported.

According to the Skegness Standard, the incidents took place between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The first involved a door being forced and cash taken from a motor home, in addition to two sets of car keys. The second involved entry though a window, resulting in some £7,000 worth of caravan equipment being stolen.

A burglary can seriously affect a caravan insurance policy, as cover firms could judge the victim to be a negligent owner and choose to increase prices as a result.

Now police in the region are asking people living near the Coral Beach caravan site, where the incidents occurred, to come to them with any information.

Furthermore, they are telling vehicle owners to ensure that they keep their property locked and protected - even if they are inside.

This weekend, the same news source reported that caravan security is the focus of a new initiative on the east coast this summer.

According to the newspaper, some 200,000 vehicles populate the region - the largest concentration in Europe.
