Residents, visitors protest council caravan park closure

Visitors to Woodhall Spa and local residents have banded together in order to fight a decision to shut down part of a local caravan and camping site, according to a local news source.

Horncastle News has remarked that officials in the region are looking to close part of Jubilee Park, even though the rest of the site is to receive a makeover worth around £1.5 million.

The news source added that the camping and caravan area, which will be replaced with a croquet club, was not feasible to keep open, East Lindsey district council head of communications Ian Bustin stated.

He said: "There are other caravan sites but the croquet centre will be unique and events will bring in a unique set of people. We are losing something but gaining something much more significant."

It may be that any resulting lack of motor homes in the region is accompanied by a drop in caravan insurance costs, as cover companies could see the area as less of a risk.

This comes as the East Anglia Daily Times has stated that plans to expand a caravan park in Halesworth are being opposed by local residents.
