Flooding worry over planned caravan park
A proposal to construct a caravan park at a site near Workington has been put on hold until flood risk assessment work has been carried out, it has been reported.
The Times & Star has stated that council officials in Allerdale have approved the application for the park to be set up in the area where Oily Johnnies pub was at Winscale.
It could be that a flood risk at the site results in more expensive caravan insurance policies for people staying at the park in the future, as cover firms could judge the site as dangerous.
Some 14 local residents have sent 13 letters objecting the proposal, while 41 have been sent supporting it.
George Campbell is developed on the land and told the news source that he would like to gradually bring vehicles onto the site.
The news comes after a report that former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona is set to open a caravan park with her husband Mark Croft.
A source told The Sun: "Mark and Kerry have been accused of being trailer trash so many times - so it's quite fitting they should chose to open a caravan park."
