PM considering Norfolk for his holiday
Tourism bosses in the UK are trying to persuade Gordon Brown to take his holiday in Norfolk this year.
It is thought that Mr Brown may take his family on a beach holiday in north Norfolk, possibly to Holkham beach, reports the Norwich Evening News.
With many feeling the effects of the credit crunch and rising fuel costs, holidaying closer to home may be a more attractive option than expensive flights abroad.
Officials in Norfolk stated that a visit from the prime minister could boost tourism in the area and draw attention to its attractions.
Lydia Smith, Norfolk Tourism project officer, commented: "We have wonderful beaches on the north Norfolk coast. Holkham is one of the most popular beaches in the UK."
Opposition leader David Cameron is also reported to be holidaying in the UK this summer and is expected to take his family to Cornwall.
Holidaymakers considering following the prime minister's example by visiting Holkham may wish to consider staying in a caravan to minimise costs but should first ensure they have adequate caravan insurance.
The Garden Caravan Site, identified as a top seaside site in Norfolk by Practical Caravan, may be a choice spot to stay for beach-goers in the county.
