BBC4 documentary on caravanning glory days

BBC4 is currently looking for caravan enthusiasts to interview about their experiences from 1940 to 1980.

DoubleBand Films will start filming the documentary this month and hopes to inspire fond recollections of holidays in days gone by, reports the Southern Daily Echo.

It is looking for seasoned tourers with anecdotes, old films or memorabilia to take part.

In addition to this the producers are looking for anyone who was involved with the production or design of caravans from this period.

Leona Coulter, assistant producer on the film said there were plans to recreate two or three favourite journeys with caravan devotees.

She stated: "It could be the route of your first ever caravan holiday or a journey that you've been making regularly for decades - or any place that you would like to revisit where you can recall special times."

Those planning on touring this summer should check that their vehicles have suitable caravan insurance to ensure that any problems can be dealt with smoothly.

American Express recently reported that driving holidays have experienced a revival this year with around 32 per cent of Brits considering taking their families caravanning.
