Arrival of prefab 'spells the end for Dornoch caravan site'
The arrival of the first prefab home confirms that the seasonal Pitgrudy caravan park will be converted into an all-year residential site, it has been claimed.
With a two-storey building erected earlier this week, the new 70-unit development is now underway, reports the Northern Times.
One year ago, static caravan owners at the park were told that their fees for staying on the site would doubled.
In January this year they were told that they had 21 days to leave, despite the fact that some had been visiting for over 20 years.
However, in order to be allowed to open all year, the site would require special planning permission, which it is thought has not yet been applied for.
Whether taking a trip with a caravan in tow or taking a break in a static one, holidaymakers should ensure that they take out adequate caravan insurance to protect against any emergency.
According to Haven Holidays, caravan vacations have recently experienced a revival in Scotland, with an increasing number of holidaymakers choosing a break of this sort over more expensive package holidays, reports the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor show website.
