Caravan company's traffic lights receive approval
A caravan manufacturing firm's plan to install traffic lights at a busy junction has received the support of the local council and road safety campaigners.
Swift Caravans is planning to expand its operations in the area and part of the proposal put forward includes installing traffic lights at the Jocks Lodge A1079/A164 junction and a new roundabout, reports This is Hull and East Riding. Now that the plans have the backing of the local council, the application will go to the government for approval.
Alan Menzies, director of planning and economic regeneration at the council, said: "This is a win, win situation. Installing traffic lights at Jocks Lodge will make the junction a lot safer." The Dunswell Area Action Committee - set up by local residents to improve road safety - also supported the proposals.
Members stated that the move would re-route some of the traffic - large lorries in particular - away from the area. In related news, a Yorkshire caravan storage company recently announced that it had expanded its operations by acquiring a similar business in Nottinghamshire. Caravan owners thinking of making use of storage facilities should ensure that they take out suitable caravan insurance to protect against theft or damage.
