Locals fight to save caravan park
Residents of Woodhall Spa and the surrounding area have teamed up to help save a local caravan park from closure.
The Jubilee Park is due to shut in September and plans are in place to use the site as a croquet centre, reports the Horncastle News. East Lindsey district council made the decision because the park has lost around £10,000 in the last five years and attendance has been low.
However, locals have signed a petition that councillor Mike Harness will present to the authority today. Around 2,800 people have put their names to the document in a bid to save the caravan site. John Archer, organiser of the petition, commented: "Support from local people has been fantastic and I haven't found anyone who can make sense of the closure plan."
He added that while he had nothing against croquet, he felt that the caravan park was a great asset. Anyone thinking of visiting a caravan park should ensure that they take out suitable caravan insurance.
In related news, a councillor from the north-east recently defended his decision to vote against the building of a 330 caravan holiday park near Hardwick Country Park due to strong local opposition, reports the Northern Echo.
