Easier access to Scandinavia by ferry
DFDS Seaways has announced that its ferries will now travel from Essex to Denmark, making Scandinavia a more accessible holiday option for caravan owners.
The company stated that vacationers are able to pack up their caravans and campervans and travel to Esjerb from Harwich from £217 for two people. In addition to the Essex to Denmark route, ferries also run from Newcastle to Amsterdam with prices starting at £153. Travelling in this way would give caravan owners easier access to the rest of northern Europe and Scandinavia without having to travel all the way to the south of England.
The ferries also provide families with entertainment and activities while they are onboard, as well as restaurants, shops, cinemas and bars and kid's clubs. Caravanners thinking of taking a break on the continent should ensure that they take out the appropriate caravan insurance to protect against theft, accidents or breakdowns.
The government's recent Steer Clear campaign suggested that over two-thirds of Britons over 55 ran into problems while driving abroad and that around three-quarters would not be prepared as they do not carry telephone numbers for the British consulate or local emergency and breakdown services.
