Caravan holidays provide a natural environment for kids

A mystery blaze in Shropshire destroyed a caravan and shed in the early hours of Sunday July 27th.

The police are treating the fire at The Crescent in Nescliffe as suspicious and believe it may have been arson. Due to the heat emitted by the burning caravan, a number of windows in a nearby house were shattered. Fortunately no-one was injured in the fire which one onlooker stated had completely obliterated the vehicle.

Malcolm Roberts remarked: "There's nothing left of the caravan, it's completely melted. "Luckily my daughter spotted what was going on and we managed to evacuate the house." Mr Roberts stated that he was alerted to the blaze by his daughter who noticed that there was a disturbance at the front of his home.

Caravan owners should ensure that they have taken out adequate caravan insurance that will protect them against arson as well as theft or breakdown. The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service recently reported that the fire service is called out to between 1,000 and 2,000 fires in caravans or mobile homes annually. It advises holidaymakers to ensure that they have a dry powder fire extinguisher near the main door of their machines and that all doors are shut at night.
