Penny-pinching Britons can still find a corner of France

France still remains a popular destination for Britons who are looking for inexpensive holidays abroad. At least this is what has been said by Homes Worldwide, which claims that the country has some of the "best equipped" campsites in the world. With mortgage rates high and numerous other expenses such as rising food and fuel costs, the chances of buying a holiday home on the continent is severely reduced for many in the UK.

However, caravanning has experienced a resurgence this year as holidaymakers take to the road to make some corner of a foreign field temporarily England. The National Caravan Council recently announced that bookings for campsites have increased by 20 per cent in July and August.

In addition to this, the Times reported that Gumtree.com has seen a rise of 300 per cent in the number of advertisements and posts regarding campervans for sales. Holidaymakers considering taking a trip to the continent should ensure that they have taken out suitable caravan insurance that covers them in the event of accidents or breakdowns.

The government recently issued a set of guidelines to motorists thinking of driving abroad this summer, reports Out and About Live. These included taking all the appropriate documentation, checking the vehicle is in good repair and packing an emergency kit.
