Caravan breaks could be ideal for a flexible holiday
Holidaymakers looking for greater independence and freedom to roam may wish to consider caravanning as an option, it has been suggested.
Trips of this kind have experienced a boom this summer according to the Caravan Club's recently released figures, which show an increase of ten per cent in the number of pitch bookings this year. As well as cheap holidays within the UK, caravanning may offer an attractive option for those who need a sunnier climate but want to travel on a budget.
A spokesman for the Caravan Club commented: "The ten per cent rise in caravan pitch bookings we have seen so far this year may be due to the credit crunch but also due to the fact that people appreciate the freedom and flexibility that caravanning offers." He added that it was advisable for prospective vacationers to check the weather forecast for their destination before they leave for their trip.
Anyone considering a break of this sort should ensure that they take out suitable caravan insurance and that they pack all their documents with them. The government recently issued guidelines for UK drivers abroad stating that a common problem for British motorists who breakdown on the continent is the lack of documentation and contact details.
