Road closes due to caravan blaze
A road was closed in north Wales amid fears that a fire at a caravan park in Prestatyn would reach acetylene cylinders that were thought to be on the premises.
Ffynnongroyw's coastal road was blocked off on Monday August 4th by emergency services as a precaution in the event that the highly flammable substance was on the site, reports the BBC. Eight fire engines were called to deal with the blaze, as well as a multitude of firefighters.
The officers eventually discovered that there was no acetylene on the site but that there were LPG gas containers. However, firefighters stated that these were not as dangerous as the ones they feared were on there. In related news, a static caravan on a site in Shropshire was destroyed in an arson attack last month, reports the Shropshire Star.
The blaze was the second of its kind in the area and the vehicle was completed destroyed. Police believe that there may be a link between the two occurrences and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Caravan owners should ensure that they have proper caravan insurance that will protect them in the event of a fire or accident.
