Touring caravans permitted to stay longer
Touring caravan insurance holders will be allowed to extend their stay at a caravan park in Chichester.
Until recently, a planning rule prevented touring caravans from staying longer than 21 days at the Lakeside Holiday Park, The Mid Sussex Times reports.
However, planning officers have now removed the rule, stating that tourists are free to stay on the park for longer periods.
According to the newspaper, the officers' report said planning conditions were put in place to ensure the site, which has space for 350 static and 500 holiday caravans, was not misused.
"The gist of the decision is the question of whether a site is suitable for the siting of touring caravans should be decided from the start, and any restriction on length of stay is irrelevant to the impact of the proposal on the locality," it said.
Earlier this year, Nikki Nichol, head of PR at the Caravan Club, recently said having a caravan means people can "go away every weekend if they wanted to".
Ms Nichol claimed those with caravans did not need to worry about being "tied" to a hotel or bed and breakfast, or about airport delays.
