Caravan park yet to see rise in bookings
The owner of a caravan park in Epping has raised concern that the predicted rise in bookings has yet to materialise, caravan insurance customers may be interested to know.
According to Terry Farr, whose Elms Camping and Caravan Park is in High Beech, said his business has been down this year.
"I keep hearing in the news that because of the money problems that camping in the UK is going to get popular again," Mr Farr told the Waltham Forest Guardian.
"I'd love to know where these people are going, because I haven't seen any upturn at all," he added.
In February, Nikki Nichol of the Caravan Club said that bookings for the summer were "very, very buoyant".
Ms Nichol said that there had been "very good bookings" at sites across the UK, ranging from city centre breaks to seaside holidays.
However, Mr Farr said his park was experiencing its worst period since foot and mouth "was an issue" for the region.
One area that is anticipating an increase in visitors this summer is Yorkshire, with David Frank of the Scarborough Hospitality Association noting that caravan site owners are expecting a rise of between five and ten per cent, the Yorkshire Post reports.
