Tyre safety guide launched

As the bank holiday weekend is fast-approaching, a new online tyre safety guide has been launched.

Caravan insurance customers unsure of how to properly maintain their tyres may benefit from the new lessons developed by TyreSafe.

The guide includes ten tyre safety tuition sessions to help provide information for the owners of the 80 per cent of cars that have incorrectly inflated tyres, the company stated.

Motorists can find out about pressures, wear and the best ways to maintain their vehicle's tyres.

Rob Beddis, chairman of TyreSafe, said: "The new online guide will help motorists overcome a number of issues which may be increasing their risk on the road or creating additional motoring costs."

The guidance forms part of the company's efforts to make the UK's roads safer, he added.

Last month, TyreSafe urged caravanners to check their tyres before setting off on their holidays this summer.

"Tyres are the only component of a caravan to come into contact with the road, so are vital to its stability and safety," the company stated.

Pressure, tread depth and the condition of tyres were areas motorists were urged to pay most attention to.
