Family lose caravan in flood

A family may have to claim on their caravan insurance after their holiday plans were ruined by flooding.

Colette Coyle and her family were on holiday at the Windsor caravan park in Newcastle when bad weather resulted in water flooding the area, the Ulster Star reports.

Ms Coyle said she only just managed to get her family, who were in great distress, out of their caravan in time.

"It was terrifying, I have never seen anything like it in my life. I am still in a state of shock thinking back on it," she explained.

"We are just picking up the pieces and contacting the insurance company," she added.

It is thought the local river burst its banks, causing the area to flood.

Ms Coyle had been unable to get in touch with the emergency services and had to stay on the site over night.

In related news, emergency services were called out to caravan fire on a farm near Crawly, the West Sussex County Times reports.

A spokesman for the West Sussex Fire and Rescue service said two appliances had been sent to the site to extinguish the fire.
