New caravan park in Woodhall Spa planned

Caravan insurance customers may soon be able to enjoy a holiday at a new caravan park in Woodhall Spa if plans are approved.

Horncastle News reports that proposals for a new park to replace another which is closing in the area have been put forward.

Local businesses wrote to East Lindsay district council to say that the closure of the existing caravan park would have a negative impact upon local trade.

The council has now confirmed that an investor is looking to develop the land adjacent to the current site ahead of its closure at the end of 2009, the newspaper reports.

It is thought the investor is keen to see Woodhall Spa offer facilities to caravanners and campers, and that the scheme will be of benefit to the local community, councillors told the newspaper.

Earlier this week, Sedgefield borough council confirmed that plans for a 330-caravan park in the region had not received approval, the Northern Echo reports.

The council said that although the majority of the site prompted "no real objection", one area posed a threat to the landscape in the most "environmentally-sensitive" section of the site, the newspaper noted.
