Watersports centre to boast new caravan park
Caravan insurance customers will be able to enjoy a variety of water sports following the renovation of Holme Pierrepont in Nottinghamshire.
According to 24dash.com, the national watersports centre is to benefit from a £10 million face-lift that will include the development of a new static caravan site.
Nottingham county council is aiming to boost visitor numbers to the site by building new facilities for cycling, sailing and walking.
The council is to invest £5 million in the project, while Sport England will also be providing between £4 million and £6 million in funding.
Councillor Chris Baron said: "We have a fantastic opportunity here, but in order for the figures to stack up we need to promote the wider use of the centre.
"It's important that elite sportspeople have a place to train, but we need to strike a balance and attract a broader range of people to make use of the site."
To do this, the centre is to include facilities for "more fun leisure activities", as well as a campsite, he added.
Holme Pierrepont is within easy reach of Nottingham city centre, so caravan enthusiasts visiting the area can enjoy both the great outdoors and the bustling city.
