Caravan park hit by flooding
Holidaymakers in North Yorkshire may need to claim on their caravan insurance after a park in Scarborough was hit by flooding at the weekend.
Those staying at Cayton Bay Holiday Park saw flood water that was two feet deep in some areas, the Scarborough Evening News reports.
A man staying on the park told the newspaper: "I had to shift my car at about 1.30am. I got woken up at 7am saying you've got to move it again."
Severe flood warnings were also issued at Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and Catterick, according to the newspaper.
Flooding caused significant damage to a number of areas in the north-east of England, the Northern Echo reports.
After the River Wansbeck burst its banks, emergency services and volunteers from the RNLI joined a helicopter crew from RAF Boulmer to provide assistance.
One resident of Wansbeck Place, Morpeth, said the street had been in "total chaos".
"I have lived here since 1974 and never experienced this - water reached the level of car roofs," she told the newspaper.
The Echo states that over 20 flood alerts from the Environment Agency remained in effect across the north-east on Sunday night.
