Caravan park raises money for charity

A caravan park in Cheshire has raised over £1,000 for charity by hosting a special event over the last bank holiday.

Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of stalls and events, a tug-of-war competition and a bouncy castle, the Winsford Guardian reports.

Staff at Lakeside Caravan Park in Stocks Hill held the fundraising event on behalf of cancer charities Christies and St Luke Hospice.

Tracey Mills, who works at the park, told the newspaper: "Everyone at the park would like to thank all those who attended and helped us raise so much."

In total, the event raised £1,140 for the good causes.

Christies raises funds for the Christie Hospital in Manchester, which, as one Europe's leading cancer centres, treats approximately 40,000 patients each year across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

The charity raises around £12 million each year to fund research, new equipment, building improvements, staff and a number of initiatives to provide support to patients.

St Luke's provides care for those with life-threatening illnesses, with an in-care unit with capacity for ten patients and a day hospice that can cater for 15 patients each day.

It also has a complementary therapy clinic.
