British activity holidays proving popular
Caravan insurance customers seeking something a little different to do for a holiday this year may be interested to learn that activity breaks are growing in popularity.
Elliott Frisby, a spokesperson for VisitBritain, said "niche interests", such as watersports and treetop walkways are among the activities finding favour with holidaymakers.
Mr Frisby said the UK benefits from the fact that there is "plenty here" to appeal to people looking for activity holidays, as well as more conventional breaks.
The expert suggested that Cornwall has a great deal to offer tourists, particularly those seeking thrills.
"Enjoy a host of watersports from surfing, zip wire or abseiling to coasteering at Lusty Glaze Beach - a privately owned cove on the north Cornish coast with dramatic 200 foot cliffs," Mr Frisby said.
The United Kingdom Travel Survey recebtly revealed that between January and April this year, UK residents made 32.9 million overnight trips within the country.
It stated that holidaymakers spent £5.6 billion on overnight trips during this period, representing four per cent increase on the figure recorded during the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, VisitLondon stated that 25.45 million people visited the country's capital last year.
