Farm-stay holidays growing in popularity
A growing number of people are choosing to stay on farms during their holidays, according to new research.
Ethical holiday company responsibletravel.com recently noted that UK farm-stay holidays have more than doubled in the last year, caravan insurance customers may be interested to know.
It is thought the increase in bookings for farm-stay accommodation is the result of more farmers choosing to subsidise their income through travel and tourism.
Sian Brenchley, a spokesperson for VisitBritain, said there is also a "renewed enthusiasm for holidaying at home" and to experience what is available on their doorstep.
"There is a growing demand for accommodation and holiday experiences that consider environmental factors and many are finding that farm-stay holiday suit this requirement well," she explained.
There is also greater demand for organic and locally-sourced food and such holidays "tap into this market perfectly", she added.
A spokesperson for the Caravan Club recently said that given the current economic climate, many people are choosing to holiday in the UK.
People also "appreciate the freedom and flexibility" offered by caravanning and feel that a holiday in the UK represents "better value" for them.
