Caravan park given green award
Environmentally-conscious caravan insurance customers may want to consider staying at the Tree Tops Caravan Park in Flintshire following the news that it has been given an award for its efforts to be eco-friendly.
The Evening Leader reports that Professor David Bellamy has given the caravan park a Bellamy Gold Award to recognise its positive attitude towards the environment.
Thousands of trees and plants have been planted by the park's owners during the last 48 years and it has also implemented eco-friendly practices such as recycling and composting, the newspaper noted.
Andy Walker, the park's general manager, said: "We also use low energy bulbs where ever possible, which helps with our commitment to the environment.
"It also helps cut our electric bills so being green is good for business as well."
Earlier this month, one caravan park's plans to build a fence were met with opposition after it was claimed the constructions work would damage the local wooded area.
Rother council's planning officers were opposed to Coghust Hall Caravan Park's proposals, reports the Sussex Express reports.
Tim Hickling, from the council, said the fence would "prevent the regeneration of trees and woodland".
