Leave technology at home

Just because new technology enables people to keep in touch with their place of work, it should not mean they should allow business to get in the way of enjoying their holiday, it has been claimed.

Carmel McCarthy, PR manager for More Than, said Britons "love work" and many people do not like to be away from their offices for too long.

However, people should "leave the technology at home" if they can and take the time to enjoy their holiday, Ms McCarthy advised.

"If you can walk away from your job, try and do so. It's really important to get those two or three week breaks in," she said.

Caravan insurance customers may be interested to learn that a recent survey found small business owners are perhaps the most unlikely to take a break from work.

Bank of Scotland reported that a quarter of small business owners do not expect to take a full week's holiday this year.

For such busy people, caravanning may be the answer, as it can offer a great deal of flexibility.

Nikki Nichol, head of PR at the Caravan Club, said with a caravan people can go away every weekend if they wanted to, rather than waiting to take a long holiday every year.
