Roadworks planned for Ebbsfleet
Caravan insurance customers heading to the south of England over the next few weeks have been told to expect delays while road works are undertaken on the A2.
The Highways Agency is advising motorists that resurfacing work is being carried out on both the London-bound and coast-bound carriageways of the road.
Between October 3rd and 6th, the first section of the road near the Ebbsfleet junction will be closed and traffic diverted.
The work will then continue over two further weekends in October.
Bala Visnubala, spokesman for the Highways Agency, said the work was necessary to prevent delays in the future and avoid having unplanned worked carried out.
"We are asking people to leave plenty of time for their journeys and check the Highways Agency website before they set out," he advised.
Ahead of the August bank holiday, the RAC issued advice to motorists embarking on long journeys.
The organisation urged people to plan their routes in advance, to allow extra time if they are heading to popular areas or travelling at busy times and to ensure they have adequate fuel for the journey.
Before setting off, people should check their oil and water, as well as ensuring their tyres are in good condition, it added.
