Ford "delighted" with award

Ford was "delighted" to have been among the winners at this year's Caravan Club Towcar Awards.

The manufacturer's Mondeo Titanium X Estate was named the best towcar in the £25,000 to £32,000 category at this year's ceremony.

Roelant de Waard, chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain, said he was pleased the Mondeo's "outstanding practicality, versatility and quality" had been recognised by the Caravan Club's judging panel.

"This is a hugely prestigious award which pitched us against some tough competition," Mr De Waard commented.

He added: "The independent judges' decision confirmed what the growing number of Ford Mondeo owners already know about this exceptional family car."

Commenting on the vehicle, Grenville Chamberlain, chairman of the Caravan Club, said the Mondeo was a "very practical caravanning car".

The car's "tremendous pulling power" and "huge load space", may be features that appeal to caravan insurance customers seeking a new car.

Skoda's Superb 2.0 TDI won the overall title of Towcar of the Year, while also winning the £20,000 to £25,000 category.

The company's brand director Robert Hazelwood said the firm was "very proud" to have won the "prestigious" award and predicted that the Superb would be a "winner" in the towcar market.
