Brits switch to "cheaper" UK breaks
Brits are making the most of their caravan insurance policies and taking UK breaks, one commentator says.
More Brits are now opting for breaks in the UK, such as caravan holidays, in order to save money, it has been claimed.
In order to better help them manage their budgets and with things such as mortgages, fuel and caravan insurance to pay for, people are switching to cheaper UK breaks, says Paul Havenhand, marketing director for Towergate Bakers.
"Caravan holidays are having a resurgence in popularity, especially within the young family sector," he adds.
Research from the caravan insurance firm shows that 65 per cent of Britons will be switching to cheap UK holidays over the next 12 months to beat the economic downturn.
Overall, one in five Brits say they will take a caravan holiday, with this figure rising slightly for couples or parents in their 30s.
These comments and findings have been backed up by figures from the Association of European Airlines for June 2008, which show that year-on-year traffic growth slowed.
