New "totnav" could help point the way
A new child-friendly sat nav could soon be used by caravan insurance customers to help ease the burden of impatient children while travelling to UK getaways.
The RoadTour Child Friendly Driving Guide is designed to provide an answer to the age-old question no doubt familiar to many caravan enthusiasts: "Are we nearly there yet?"
Dubbed the "totnav", the guide pinpoints places of interest for young travellers, offering comment and tips on various attractions based on results surveying children's opinions on landmarks across the country.
According to RoadTour managing director Daniel Taylor, the device is aimed at putting an end to "miserable" and "complicated" car journeys for children and indentifying places that make children and parents feel welcome.
"It helps families get from A to B much more effectively and enjoyably than the A to Z," he said.
The guide, which can be downloaded to existing sat nav systems for £9.95 and lists 3,000 different locations, also offers commentary and advice on the destinations as well as information on opening times and entrance costs.
According to research by TomTom, the use of a satellite navigation system can help improve driver behaviour and ease stress when travelling to an unknown destination, making the devices a must for many caravan insurance customers looking to explore campsites across the UK.
