98% of caravan owners help environment every day
Caravan insurance customers are leading the way in environmentally friendly living, according to a survey.
Figures show that Caravan Club members are twice more likely to have adopted a greener lifestyle than other members of the British public, with 98 per cent claiming to do something every day to help the environment.
And the survey, which was commissioned by the Caravan Club itself, suggested that holidaymakers were not satisfied with simply modifying their own behaviour - with 80 per cent stating that they thought other mobile home owners should do so too.
Members listed saving water and energy as well as recycling as their main concerns to help protect the environment both at home and on holiday and Caravan Club director of marketing Nick Lomas was pleased to hear that owners were making an effort.
"While the results come as no surprise to us, we are heartened to have the club's commitment to sustainable tourism confirmed in such a convincing way," he said.
Environmentally-aware caravan insurance customers were recently presented with the custom-built EcoStream mobile home at Birmingham's International Caravan and Motorhome show, according to the Times.
The aluminium trailer came complete with composting toilet, wood-burning stove and solar panels and represents the latest in greener living for British caravan users.
