UK caravan parks could be transformed

Holidaymakers looking to make the most of their caravan insurance could find a considerable increase in the quality of campsites, a report suggests.

According to the Times, a new fund is set to transform caravan parks across the region as investors look to cash in on the recent upturn in UK breaks.

With the global economic crisis showing little sign of letting up, The Darwin Leisure Property fund believes that the UK campsite industry could provide a cheap alternative to buy-to-let holiday homes.

"Caravan parks occupy some of the most beautiful sites in the country. If you put a house in some of these locations they would fetch millions," said one investor in the scheme.

Established in 2007, the group will use money from investors to develop more attractive and profitable caravan parks with improved facilities.

And the report suggests that the idea could take off as the caravan industry prepares to profit from UK visitors who can no longer afford to holiday abroad amid the impending recession.

Motorhome owners thinking of taking a break at one of the UK's many holiday parks will be reminded of the need to take out adequate caravan insurance cover after one vehicle in Milton lost its wheel yesterday afternoon, causing six-mile tailbacks on the A34.
