The lifestyle enjoyed by many caravan insurance customers up and down the UK was given a ringing endorsement from an unlikely source today in the shape of former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson.

Along with her two young children, the US actress is currently residing in a mobile home while their nearby house is refurbished - and Anderson says she loves her new small-scale lifestyle.

"It's my favourite thing in the world. I have two homes but I can honestly say I would much rather live in a trailer than anywhere else," she explained.

Anderson described her new residence as "small but chic" and said she and her children were enjoying "sitting on beanbags" and doing their washing in a launderette.

For other mobile home enthusiasts enjoying the lifestyle, the importance of holding a valid caravan insurance policy and fitting their vehicles with working smoke alarms has been underlined in a spate of recent fires.

Two teenagers narrowly escaped their burning vehicle in Peterborough last week after an exploding television set caused fire to rip through the caravan as they slept, the Peterborough Evening Telegraph reports.

And police are appealing for witnesses today after a motorhome in Lancashire was targeted by arsonists, causing £22,000 worth of damage, according to the Longridge News.
