New travel site could benefit holidaymakers

Caravan insurance customers could benefit from a new travel guides website based on contributions from members of the British public.

In a move aimed at boosting local tourism, My Town on Travelconnect.co.uk will encourage people to submit travel recommendations and tips on local attractions.

Caravan insurance customers and other UK travellers will then be able to view the content, allowing them to benefit from "in-the-know" information on various pubs, restaurants and monuments across the region.

Chloe Addo of Travelconnect.co.uk said that the scheme was aimed at unveiling "the best kept secrets of British tourism".

"There are some fantastic locations throughout the country that most of us do not know about, which is why we want locals to get in touch and highlight their best spots," she added.

The site - which boasts nearly one million users a month - will also enable visitors to vote for their favourite hidden tourist spots as part of its plans to publish a Top 20 list of UK destinations by the New Year.

Its launch follows the creation of a new caravan swapping website announced earlier this week allowing mobile home owners to meet fellow holidaymakers and exchange motorhomes for the duration of their holidays.
