Comic reveals camping inspiration

A television comic has revealed that buying a caravan formed the major inspiration for his latest stand-up show.

Jeff Green, a 44-year-old performer, has appeared on popular television comedy shows including Have I Got News For You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

But he is now turning away from television and has recently been showcasing his observational comedy as part of a sell-out tour across Australia and New Zealand.

And as he prepares to kick off his Life-Ache 2008 tour in the UK this week, Mr Green revealed that his experience as a caravan owner had provided much of the material for his comedy.

He revealed that, with a newborn baby to care for, his wife had refused to make the couple's annual trip to Glastonbury in a tent and instead demanded he buy a caravan.

"So I bought one on eBay, as you do," Mr Green explained. "Having the caravan prompted a sense that my life is changing inexorably."

The comedian also admitted that he and his wife were so taken by the Jubilee Ambassador caravan that they decided to hang on to it after the festival.

Mr Green's fondness for the lifestyle enjoyed by many caravan insurance customers in the UK comes after former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson stated that her temporary residence in a mobile home had become her "favourite thing in the world".
