Caravan owner foils thief
Mobile home owners have once again been alerted to the importance of taking out caravan insurance on their vehicles after an attempted theft in Lincolnshire.
One criminal used a brick to smash the window of a motorhome parked in the Robin Hood caravan site near Skegness before making off with a handbag that had been left inside, according to the Skegness Standard.
It was later found discarded nearby, but the thief got more than he bargained for after being confronted by the 54-year-old owner of the caravan, along with her pet dog.
The offender - who was dressed in black clothes and had his face covered - fled the scene after a fracas involving the animal, and police say he is likely to be baring the wounds with at least one dog bite injury.
Officers are now appealing to the public for any information relating to the incident after the thief was last seen heading towards the seafront area of Skegness.
The report will remind holidaymakers of the threat posed by thieves, and highlights the importance of taking out full caravan insurance in order to cover for any such incidents.
Meanwhile, two men in Lancashire have pleaded guilty to the theft of caravans across the region and will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court in the New Year.
